We have reviewed lots of songs by this point. They were songs that were either done by a Canadian band or done by a band with a strong female presence. To continue this pattern, we are going to be taking a look at “I Miss the Misery” by Halestorm. This song was released in 2012 and it really showcases the strong female lead, Lizzy Hale.
The song starts off with a very powerful entrance by Lizzy, it is clear and very forward. The rest of the band compliments the vocal line wonderfully in the intro and first verse. The pre-chorus has an amazing build to a peak at the beginning of the chorus. Each aspect of the band is clearly heard without overpowering another. The second verse brings the energy of the song back down to the level of the first verse; this allows for the amazing build to happen again. The bridge has a strong, powerful vibe but leads great into an acapella break, that then picks immediately picks back up to the last chorus. The outro of the song shows the great ability of Lizzy Hale and features an awesome little solo to bring the song to the end.
This song would be a great breakup song for those people who are more hard rock lovers. It does a wonderful job of showcasing the talents of a great female singer. The solo at the end was also a great contrast to the harsh vocals that are over top of it.
