Song Review: “Fascination” by The Beaches

The last song we reviewed was “No Problem” by Ex Ømerta. The next song that we will be reviewing is “Fascination” by The Beaches! The song is from their EP that was released last year (2019).

The song starts with a fun upbeat feeling to it, with the vocals being very forward. The first verse is very good at establishing the tone of the song. When the first chorus starts the guitar and bass becomes more prominent. The fun riff during the chorus lends well to the vibes of the song. The guitar and bass reel back a bit during the second verse and picks immediately back up with the next chorus. The bridge has more distortion on everything, then breaks to a clean guitar; which is a great way to catch the listener’s attention again. Also, because of the break, there is a really good transition to the next verse. There was a full-on pause in all the instruments transitioning from that verse to the next chorus, which is neat because it leaves the listener wondering what is next. The outro is a simple, yet well executed build up, then stop.

The only major thing that should have been more forward was the fun riff during the choruses. It could be heard the best during the first chorus, but it could have been louder during the other choruses.

What do you think? Do you agree with the volume of the fun riff? Take a listen below and tell us what you think.
