Now that we have more time at home and more time to kill, many people may be picking up new instruments! We decided to give a few tips to making that learning easier. With the help of Joe O’Conner, a music teacher from Brantford at AMP Studios, we have compiled a list of helpful tips.
The first tip that we have is make sure the instrument is one that you’re really excited to learn. The more excited that you are to learn it, the more likely you are to practice and make more of an effort to actually learn the instrument.
The second tip is one that Joe had mentioned, learned all your basic chords (if you can play them on the instrument you are learning). By doing this it allows you to learn many more songs than you would be able to without learning them. They are also the basics; they will carry on through all of your musical experience.
The next tip that we have is keep up practicing. It may be difficult to do if you’re struggling but take the songs that you learn a part. By taking the song a part, it lets you focus on a smaller section; that is more manageable. The better you get too, the easier the practice will be!
The final tip that both Joe and we agree on, is be patient. It is the most important thing while you are learning. If you aren’t patient during your practice, it can be incredibly difficult to accomplish anything. So be patient with your practice!
We hope that these are helpful tips for any new musicians, or people that are struggling to learn. Leave a comment on our Instagram or Facebook with any more helpful tips!
