The movie soundtrack that we have already taken a look at here on our blog has a newer movie (Guardians of the Galaxy). The next movie that we wanted to take a look at is Almost Famous.
This movie came out in 2000, so it’s now 20 years old, but it is set in the early 70s. This movie features many of the great bands of that era; some of these bands include Led Zeppelin, Stillwater, The Who, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Like Guardians of the Galaxy, this movie helps bring the different bands of the 70s to a new audience, even though this movie is older.
This movie has a great soundtrack and really fits the vibe of it. Many of the songs in the movie are source songs which is a great way of playing the songs. Source songs are songs that are actually in the scene playing music; some examples in this movie are a band playing a concert, or on the radio. A great part that sticks out, that has a song in this situation, is the song “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. The song is played over the radio and everyone who is on a bus in the movie starts singing along.
To summarize, this movie, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy, help link the older music to a younger audience. This movie also has a great way of presenting the songs in the movie to the viewers.
