We’ve looked at a couple movie soundtracks by this point, and all of them are bringing older music to a younger audience. The movie we are taking a look at today is no exception either. School of Rock was released in 2003 and features Jack Black as the main character, Dewey Finn.
The main character, Dewey’s, motivation to teach the kids rock and roll is a little selfish, but he does a great job at it. This movie features songs from various bands including AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Cream, The Clash and many more. Dewey does a great job at including all the kids, as he places them in different jobs surround the main band of kids.
This movie was released in the early 2000s, so like the rest of movies we have talked about, it’s brought these legendary classic rock songs, to the younger generation. This movie has also aided in the foundation of the actual music school of the same name. Like the movie, the school is focused on the performance aspect of creating a band.
The actors that played in this movie also had a small reunion and redid one of the great songs from the movie. Jack Black was able to get the cast of the movie to come up on stage and do the song “Long Way To The Top” (which was originally done by AC/DC). Here is the video if you want to see it!
